Our primary focus here at Freedom Air is Flight Training. Below is the list of requirements for the Private Pilot Certificate.
The FAA Private Pilot Certificate is a certificate given by the FAA allowing a person to legally operate an aircraft with passengers and baggage. Upon satisfactory completion of your training program, a knowledge test, a medical exam, and a practical test, the FAA sends the certificate to you. We offer training towards a Private Pilot Certificate in a single-engine land aircraft, which would allow a person to operate a single-engine airplane with passengers and within the standards of the Visual Flight Rules. To be eligible for a Private Pilot Certificate a person must: j Be at least 16 years old to solo the airplane, 17 years old to acquire the certificate, but you can be any age to start training. j Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. j Obtain at least a third-class FAA medical examination and Student Pilot Certificate. j Pass the written aeronautical knowledge test which covers FARS, use of maps for navigation during flights, understanding of the weather and its effects, efficient operations of the airplane including collision avoidance, avoidance of wake turbulence, weight and balance computations, and the effects of density altitude on takeoffs and landings. The test also covers aerodynamics, aircraft systems, stall awareness and recovery, decision making and judgment skills along with preflight procedures. j Have flight training logbook endorsement from a Certified Flight Instructor stating that you meet all requirements and are prepared for a practical flight test. j Have at least a MINIMUM of 40 logged hours total which include: 1. A minimum of 3 hours instrument training with a CFI 2. A minimum of 3 hours of cross-country training 3. A minimum of 3 hours of night training including one cross-country over 100 nautical miles and 10 takeoffs and landings to a full stop 4. Three hours of preparation for the practical test j Have at least a MINIMUM of 10 hours of solo flight which include 1. A minimum of 5 hours of solo cross-country with one solo cross country of at least 150 nautical miles with full stops at three destinations 2. A minimum of 3 takeoffs and landings to a full stop at a controlled airport j Have at least a MINIMUM of 10 hours solo flight practicing takeoffs and landings, basic airport operations, flight maneuvers and navigation *The average number of hours to complete the Private Pilot Training is between 50 and 70 hours based on many factors. The minimum set by the FAA is based on the time that the airplane is actually in the air performing maneuvers, not including the time it takes to fly the airplane to the designated practice area and return. Therefore, the minimum of 40 hours is a difficult standard to meet.
